Seeking God for 2027

Introduction:

As we look to 2027, we want to take intentional time to seek the Lord for His leadership regarding next year for five important reasons:

1. Spirit-led Direction

In Revelation 2.7, Jesus said, “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” While this verse has many implications, one important one is that Jesus wanted His churches to have a posture of listening to and being led by the Spirit. As we engage in this process each year, it helps us to live in this heart posture as a people.

2. It Builds Unity

This process of seeking the Lord together helps us to walk the unity that comes from shared prayer and a shared vision.

3. It Builds Faith

As we look back at how God has led us in the past, it builds our faith for the future.

4. It Builds Focus

This process helps us to sharpen our focus and spend our best energies on what God is calling us to rather than drowning in a sea of good opportunities or the tyranny of the urgent.

5. Course Correction

As we humble ourselves and seek Him, this process can help us course correct in places where we could be drifting from His calling on our lives.

How are we going about this as we look to 2027?

As we seek to discern what the Spirit is speaking, we are entering into a season of special prayer in late July and into the Fall of 2026. During this time we are asking our family of churches to seek the Lord together for His leadership and direction for us as a people. The following is our basic timeline for that process.

  • August: We are praying and seeking the Lord together. We would love to hear what you sense the Spirit highlighting for Antioch for the year ahead! Please send in your input using our submission form so we can keep track of the input sent in. We are also going to be hosting Zoom calls for our various Regional Leaders, Lead Pastors and Team Leaders.

  • September & October: The Antioch Oversight Team will take the input that has come in and seek to distill our sense of where the Holy Spirit is leading into a Scripture, word or phrase for the upcoming year.

  • November: Jimmy Seibert will share where we sense the Lord leading us for 2027 at our Team Leader Gathering. We will also distribute that communication to the Antioch Movement as a whole.
